Paul Barton

Professor Simon Shun-Man Ho

Professor Simon Ho joined the University of Macau in March 2009 and currently holds the position of Vice Rector (Academic Affairs). He holds several professional qualifications in accounting, information systems, and financial planning. As an internationally known expert on corporate governance, Professor Ho assisted the Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (ISAR) of the United Nation Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in developing international corporate governance and disclosure guidelines.
Besides being the Chairman of the Hong Kong Corporate Governance Forum, he is also the Vice President of the International Association for Accounting Education and Research (IAAER), Vice President of the Hong Kong Professionals and Senior Executives Association, Council Member of the China Higher Education Association, Board Member of the Hong Kong Securities Institute, and Advisor to a number of international bodies.

Tai Hollingsbee

Tai Hollingsbee is a specialist in the design of high performance buildings that strive towards a zero carbon foot print. As an engineer with expertise in architectural science, he has extensive international experience across a range of landmark projects with world leading architects. His portfolio of work includes residential and embassy projects in Africa, 'greening' one of the world’s tallest building in Chicago, large commercial developments in the Middle East and China, and art galleries in Europe.

Professor Reg Jordan

Other than being Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia’s first chief executive officer and provost, Professor Reg Jordan is also its academic and executive head of the international branch campus. Professor Jordan has previously served as Dean of International Medical Education and Dean of Undergraduate Medicine in the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Newcastle. Between 1988 and 1995, he was Head of the Department of Immunology at Newcastle University. He has been influential in shaping the development of the innovative medical programme in Newcastle, and in furthering the national and international reorientation of the undergraduate medical curriculum.

Professor Ian Kerr

Professor Ian Kerr assumed the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor for Curtin University’s offshore campus in Malaysia in 2010. Prior to that, he was Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Curtin Business School (CBS) at the university’s main campus in Perth, Australia. Professor Kerr was also CBS Dean of Operations, Head of the School of Economics and Finance, and Head of the Department of Economics. Professor Kerr leads a team of more than 300 academic and administrative staff at the Malaysian campus.

Norman LaRocque

Norman LaRocque is a Senior Education Specialist with the Southeast Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank, based in the Philippine capital Manila. Until recently, he was a public policy consultant and adviser to the Education Forum, based in Wellington, New Zealand. Norman’s research interests include all levels of education, with a focus on the regulation of education, private education, education finance, student loans and public-private partnerships. Norman has worked in more than 20 countries in Asia and the Pacific, Africa and the Middle East.
Norman has a number of publications, including Public Private Partnerships in Basic Education: An International Review (2008), The Evolving Regulatory Context for Private Education in Emerging Economies (with John Fielden, 2008), Contracting for the Delivery of Education Services: A Typology and International Examples (2006), Who Should Pay? – Tuition fees and Tertiary Education Financing in New Zealand (2003), The Promise of E Learning in Africa: The Potential for Public-Private Partnerships (with Michael Latham, 2003), School Choice: Lessons from New Zealand (2005) and Private Education in the Philippines (2000). He was also a member of the team that prepared the World Bank's Higher Education Policy Note for Pakistan – An Assessment of the Medium-Term Development Framework (2006). Norman has an MA and a BA (Honors) in Economics from the University of Western Ontario (Canada).

Phan Pit Li

Phan Pit Li has more than 20 years of experience in the planning and design of education facilities. She has been involved in more than 100 projects in Singapore, South Korea, Dubai, India, China, Macau, UK and Australia. She has presented papers at local and international conferences, and played a key role in the book project ‘The Architecture of Learning: New Singapore Schools’ by Robert Powell which examines the changing circumstances influencing school development in Singapore. Many of the education projects under her guidance and leadership have won local awards and international recognition. She is currently a Council Member of CEFPI Australasia Ltd.

Richard C. Linstrom

Richard C. Linstrom oversees the Singapore campus with a focus on enhancing educational programmes and strengthening research and other affiliations with Asiaís booming hospitality and tourism industry. He has been vice president and general counsel at UNLV since 2004. Previously, he was chief deputy attorney general and assistant solicitor-general for the Office of the Nevada Attorney General.

Professor John Malpas

Professor John Malpas assists the Vice-Chancellor in setting the direction and formulating policy on campus and infrastructure development. Professor Malpas was first appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor in December 2000 with the portfolio of planning and resources.
Subsequently he has become responsible for university infrastructure and development. Professor Malpas has had oversight of the development, formulation and implementation of the university's strategic plan and its coordination with the faculties and their development plans. The Centennial Campus is scheduled for completion in 2012.

Colin is a Chartered Architect and his experience, spanning 30 years, includes office, industrial, retail and residential development as well as land use, feasibility and planning studies. Colin’s career has embraced broad spectrum of property relation disciplines with some of Australian’s leading architectural, property development and consultant firms.

Loke Mun Sing

Loke Mun Sing is the Director, Office of Campus Development at the Singapore Management University (SMU). His wide range of experience in the built environment spans across Urban Planning, Architecture and Project Management where he has undertaken the roles of authority, consultant and owner-representative. Prior to joining SMU, he was the Senior Vice President (Project Management) at Surbana International Consultants, one of the largest building consultancies in the region, where he had successfully led multiple project teams through numerous challenging projects. He has also played an active role, having managed over 75 projects, under the government’s $4.6B PRIME programme to transform Singapore’s school building infrastructure to world-class standards.
SMU has been a success story and has grown rapidly in the last decade since the SMU City Campus was first planned in 2000. To cater to the next dynamic phase of growth, the SMU Campus Expansion Masterplan was devised in 2010 to guide the long-term development plans for the City Campus. As part of this growth strategy, the Office of Campus Development is currently spearheading the planning and development of new facilities at the City Campus to continue providing progressive and innovative learning environments for its students.

Christian Veddeler,

Christian Veddeler is Associate Director and Senior Architect at UNStudio in Amsterdam and is currently involved in the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) project as lead architect, in collaboration with DP Architects of Singapore. Concurrently, Christian is the head of UNStudio’s Design Research Platform IOP, which focuses on emergent typologies in digital design processes and is currently researching ‘Knowledge Spaces’ within the field of education architecture.
At UNStudio, Christian has collaborated on several projects, including the Galleria Department Store in Seoul (KR), the Theatre Agora in Lelystad (NL), the Star Place Department Store in Kaohsiung (TW) and the Dance Theatre in St. Petersburg (RU). He was also project architect on a series of pavilion projects, including the Burnham Pavilion in Chicago (US) and the New Amsterdam Pavilion in New York (US).
Christian has taught and lectured widely including at, amongst others, the Staedelschule University of Arts in Frankfurt, TU Delft, the Berlage Institute and University of Illinois in Chicago. From TU Delft he has a Master of Science degree in Architecture with Honours.
